Harold’s Doughnuts

by Katie on April 4, 2015

I have been ALL ABOUT the doughnuts lately. Especially the doughy, cakey kind. With white frosting and colorful sprinkles on top, of course!

While heading to St. Louis for Easter, we stopped in Columbia with the sole purpose of finding doughnuts, though we told ourselves it was to drive around campus and be nostalgic. πŸ˜‰ We “stumbled upon” (after googling on our phones) a nice little doughnut stop – Harold’s Doughnuts.

Donut stop on the way to St. Louis! The Red Velvet didn't taste anything like red velvet, but it was cakey and delicious.

We got a big ole’ box for completely reasonable price. My favorites (because yes, we sampled many) were the, you guessed it, the plain cake doughnut with [homemade!] sprinkles and the Red Velvet. I thought it tasted nothing like red velvet, but that was more than fine by me – it was absolutely delicious.

We will definitely be back!

An Itty Bitty Quilt

by Katie on March 8, 2015

A tiny sneak peek for an even tinier quilt! πŸ˜€

Working on an itty bitty quilt, which is so not usually my thing (the smaller the quilt, the more obvious my misaligned points, right?!), but is has been fun! #littlegems #miniquilt #batik #aurifil

Homemade Poptarts

by Katie on February 27, 2015

I do wish I enjoyed making healthy food as much as I enjoy making sweets. πŸ˜€ I gave some homemade poptarts a try this morning and they were delicious. I followed this recipe, though I cheated in a number of ways – I didn’t freeze anything and I just used stewed strawberries (is that a thing?) for the filling to name two. They still came out great. They were basically pie with the proper pie-to-filling ratio, which is lots of crust, little filling. πŸ˜‰

It's a homemade poptart kind of morning. I wish I enjoyed making healthy food as much as I do baking. ;)

Tea Class

by Katie on February 23, 2015

I had such fun at tea class at the Tea Market this weekend! Here is a Pu-erh and a Lapsang souchong.

From tea class at #TeaMarket this weekend! A Pu Erh and a Lapsang souchong. I learned that Pu Erh can help chase bugs out of your system (perfect for this time of year, right?!) - drink up!

I learned that Pu-erh can help chase bugs out of your system, though it can smell like a stinky sock. It’s an easy tea to not like, but I didn’t pick up on any sticky sock smells at all. I didn’t love it, but I purchased some anyway – who doesn’t need help chasing bugs out of their systems this time of year?

Happy Valentine’s Day, my sweets!

Busy City Progress!

by Katie on February 8, 2015

Still missing lots of wheels, though. πŸ˜‰

#busycityquilt progress! Still missing wheels, though.

Are these trees not the cutest?!

The trees for my #busycity quilt by @teaginny for @emptybobbin. It is the cuuuuutest!! Just wait until you see the traffic cones.

Date Night

by Katie on February 6, 2015

Preeetty sure we attend events at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts just to walk around the gorgeous building.

Date night with @laughridge. :)

Oh, and, I guess the performances are ok too. πŸ˜‰

Tiny Pies

by Katie on January 28, 2015

That one time @laughridge and I made Apple Mini Pies. Much better crust-to-apple-and-goo ratio than regular ole' apple pie.

Little Houses

by Katie on January 25, 2015

Another sneak peek of the project I’ve been working on for work! She’s all quilted and bound and off for photography! I just ADORE the dusty soft purples in this collection.

Pieced this quilt so fast I forgot to take progress shots! Oh well, my happy little houses are all finished and ready for picture day! :) #cityculturefabric #bellanonnaquilt #quilt
