Southern California weather is hard to beat. Almost every single day is beautiful, and even when the weather is gloomy, it’s not all that bad.
Having such gorgeous makes you want to spend as much time outside as possible. So, space permitting, why not have an outdoor living room?! Sadly, we can’t fit much more than a tiny grill and a couple chairs and a bistro table on our apartment balcony (none of which we actually have), but that won’t stop me from lusting after these FABULOUS outdoor spaces. SWOON!
Brandon and I have talked about how to take outdoor spaces like these more livable (well, more usable, anyway) in Missouri weather (since we assume we’ll be back there eventually). We agreed on a few outdoor heaters and maybe a free-standing fireplace. Maybe we could get a few more months of use out of the space at least….? Hopefully one day we’ll find out!

Katie I can completely empathize with dreaming of an outdoor space! I have a little bitty balcony here in Mass with two jank Adirondack chairs that came with the space. I bought a really comfy hammock and it is one of my favorite places to hang out when the weather is nice…but this post has me itching to do a little mini-makeover on it and spruce things up.
Instead of outdoor heaters you should totally check out getting a fire pit when you finally do an outdoor space. Not only are they more aesthetically pleasing and keep you warm, but they provide such a great focal point for the space…plus they are just bad-ass.

I would LOVE a fire pit! Or a plain ole’ outdoor fireplace… I feel like with these the heat is always one-sided though. Any good ideas for spreading out the heat? That’s what made us think of space heaters (but I agree, they aren’t all that pretty!).
I notice that the first two pics have furnishings in the hot color of the year–honeysuckle! (But you already knew that!) We are actually getting to enjoy our deck yesterday and today because of our unseasonable balmy weather in the low 80′s! Take that, San Diego!
I only knew that thanks to you!
And I’m jealous of that weather! It’s in the 50s…can you believe it…50s!! here!! Ew.
Soooooo into outdoor living spaces. These are FAB!
Wow, these are absolutely lovely!
