Macaron Madness

Macarons. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, you cannot deny that they are one of the most adorable sweet treats you will ever find. Maybe it’s their smooth top(s) and creamy, fluffy middles. Or the fact that you can get them in any color and flavor. Or that you can come up with gazillions of ways to display, package, and serve them. Ahh! I just love them.

These little darlings are SO HARD to make. Well, hard to make look good. I spent a Sunday afternoon trying to whip up a few batches. They got better as I went…but none of them looked half as good as the pictures posted here (otherwise I would have taken a picture and shared it with you!).

So, if you’re not brave enough to try to make these (or don’t have the time…or patience), turn to the professionals. I had started to compile a list of places where these delicious morsels can be found, but The Girl Who Ate Everything already did it! You can find it here. As she states, it’s an inconclusive list, but it’s definitely good enough to get you started. :^)

Did you know that there IS a difference between macarons and macaroons (or so I’ve read). The single “o” type refers to the kind pictured here. The double “o” type refers to the haystack-looking clusters of coconut. Both are delicious!
