Cowls

by Katie on August 20, 2012

Even though it’s blistering hot back home and far too hot for southern California (shorts – I’m not a fan), I am obsessing over a fall and winter favorite – cowls!

They are such a fun (and practical) accessory. Well, for cold weather, anyway. Perfect for skinnies, boots, and a fitted long-sleeve T.

Clockwise from top left: Cowl in Oatmeal by Vital Temptation | Wasabi Cowl via Knit The Hell Out | Whit’s Knits Striped Cotton Cowl on Pearl Bee | Accidental Cowl via Crochet in Color

Aren’t they just lovely? You can buy the first and find patterns for the rest by following their respective links. Enjoy, all you yarn people (I am envious of your talents)! And for those of you who are, like me, not yarn people, bribe your yarn friends to make one for you (ahem, Shelly, Amber, I’m looking at you). ;)

What fall or winter accessory are you most looking forward to sporting during the upcoming season? My favorites, as usual, are boots closely followed by scarves and a mug o’ spiced cider. Cheers!

May 28th | Giveaway

by Katie on June 25, 2012

Happy Monday, y’all! I’m exciting to be introducing May 28th today, a completely fabulous brand of watches that are both trendy and wallet-friendly. They also just so happen to be giving one of their watches away to one of you! Woohoo!!

First, let’s enjoy some eye candy. These are some of my favorites!!

Need something bold and colorful? Love these:

Looking for something a bit different? How about these? There is just something I love about those black bands….

And this is just a small sample of May 28th’s designs!

May 28th was dreamed up by Agni Tilla (that’s her on the right), a Latvian-born designer and entrepreneur. She noticed a lack of “playfully chic, yet affordable” watches while searching for some to spice up her own everyday wardrobe. Agni designs vivid patterns and works with en vogue motifs to create fun pieces that guys and girls alike will love. They are water resistant (though not waterproof), and you can even send in your own watch face design and have it made! How awesome is that?!

These lovelies range from $28 – $39 (not bad for something so fab, am I right?!) and can be found in the US, France, the UK, Australia, Canada, and today, right here! *jumps up and down*

Want one for yourself? Here’s how to enter the giveaway:

Visit May28th.me (or May 28th’s Pinterest) and pick out your favorite watch. Pin it to your style/accessories board on Pinterest and post the link to your pin (and any additional comments you’d like to add) in the comments below. The winner will get to pick any one watch he or she desires from May 28th’s collection! We’ll pick a winner at the end of the week. :)

Note: If you don’t have Pinterest, well, I’m not sure we can be friends anymore. KIDDING! Just click over to May 28th’s website, find your favorite, and tell us which one that is in the comments below.

If you want all May 28th news and updates, you can find them on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr too!

UPDATE: Winner has been picked – Ali S! :) Thanks to everyone who entered!!

If I were a bag…

by Katie on February 5, 2012

This is what I would look like.

Buy it here!

Fun side note: I met Kate Spade’s brother-in-law on an airplane heading from SD to KC. He was telling me about his sister-in-law who had this handbag business and I asked for her name and the name of her business was, and he responded “Oh I don’t know if you’d know her. Kate Spade is her name.” My eyes about popped out of my head. I was like, “Um, YEAH I’ve heard of her! I don’t think there is a girl in the US that hasn’t!” Another, even cooler side note: Ms. Spade is a Kansas City girl, born and raised! And even though she went to school in Kansas, she still has my respect. ;)

Boot Socks!

by Katie on October 11, 2011

I love love LOVE the whole sock-sticking-out-of-the-top-of-my-boots look. Like this:

Che Amore

Love the boots? Thanks to Kassie, we know that they are Ash Destroyer Boots from Free People. Find them here!

I have some pretty tall socks, but I don’t think any of them could pull this look off. So, that’s why I think I need these:

There is just so much going on in each pair. Yes, I believe I *need* two of each color. :D If your feets are like mine and they think they need a pair too, you can purchase them here!

Get Skinny

by Katie on August 29, 2011

Belts, that is! I love love looooooove skinny belts. I have like, two, but I wish I had ALL of THESE:

*Note: Click the image to go to Polyvore, where you can see where each belt is from.

Me thinks they are the perfect accessory, especially for dresses. I usually wear them around my waist, though I do have a green one from Anthro that is meant for the hips. I love them all, almost equally. Actually, that’s a lie – I have a double wrap, studded brown belt that I totally overwear….I’m surprised it hasn’t fallen apart by now.

Are you a fan of the skinny belt? What does your favorite one look like?

Wedge Pumps

by Katie on May 25, 2011

A couple days ago a pal of mine tweeted back and forth with me about affordable wedges. She mentioned liking the “closed toe pump-looking variety”, and I have to say I agree – those are my favorites (even though they are not the easiest to find with the summer months fast approaching…or…wait, are they already here?)!

Here are a few options that I love! They are all under $100, which I wouldn’t necessarily call cheap…but finding closed toe wedges at my usual affordable spots was somewhat difficult (see paragraph above). :( Although, if you’re going to spend a few bucks on a pair of wedges, I think these would transition between the seasons quite nicely (always a good reason to splurge, right?!) :P

Closed Toe Wedges

Do you have a great pair of wedges, pump-like or other? Where are your favorite places to shop for shoes? Do tell!!

Signet Rings

May 2, 2011

I have LOVED signet rings for quiiiite a while. Probably because they are a preppy jewelry box must. With all the royal wedding hubbub and talk of Sloane Rangers (from my understanding – preps from across the pond) and such, I have been reminded of these beauties and now I just can’t stop thinking about [...]

Woah NELLE-y!

March 9, 2011

Can you fall in love with accessories? Yes. I think you can. Because I have. With NELLE. What is NOT to love? Just LOOK at these pieces. Stylish, feminine, a touch of preppy. What more could a girl ask for? Well, a lower price might be nice…but I respect the fact that these aren’t your [...]

Sashes!

March 7, 2011

Who says sashes are just for wedding dresses? I have so many belts (thick and thin), which I wear all the time, but not a single sash. There is something very wrong with this! These are so cute, and can add a whole new look to a simple dress. Aren’t they faaabulous?! [ 1 2 [...]

ban.do

February 23, 2011

I’ve been a fan of ban.do since before their Press & Celebs page was a mile long. They have such lovely pieces, I’d take every. single. one. if I could afford them all! The company was started back in 2008 by Jen and Jamie, two creative, fashionable friends who clearly have amazing taste (and skills). [...]
